These classes combine the classical yoga postures with the grace and fluidity of
vinyasa-style practice. Vinyasa yoga employs smooth breath and a flowing sequence
of postures.
The experience is that of a moving meditation. The classes are challenging, yet
caring to the body. Rasa Vinyasa builds a strong foundation for your practice,
and brings aliveness to body, mind and spirit. It becomes a moving meditation
tasting the Now.
Rasa Vinyasa is said to be the "juice" of life. Without it we become dry and stuck
in the routine thus rigid manifesting in stress and dis-ease.
This form of practising yoga helps us to become consciously aware of the flow, and
how we can influence each step along the way by "feeling" connection to our essence.
Rasa is all of the aspects or moods of our constant flow through life, and with
this awareness we can achieve optimum health and vibrancy.
Vinyasa means evolution, change; an unfolding. We can also look at it as the form
of seasons or how life unfolds. Look at where you are today and what has happened since last week or even last year. Life is an unfolding sequence. We are
always changing, everything is changing; life is change, life is movement.
Macrocosm - microcosm, being in reflection. When there is a change in nature we change
inside. When the sun comes out outside, the sun comes out inside you. We are perfect
mirrors of how the seasons move; we go through the same process. When the winter comes,
we go inward more; we contemplate, meditate and rest. When the spring comes we start to
come out and play; we feel more energetic, we become more creative and so on...we flow
alongside the flow of nature and if we allow this organic unfolding we feel more alive and
more vibrant, unless we choose to work against the cycle, fighting it.
Rasa means essence or tasting. Every time you step on your mat you feel different
depending on the seasons, the day you have had, what week you have had. All of our
experiences are different every day, changes in your life will affect you differently,
thus your practice will be different every time you step on your mat.
Respond to your essence of life each time you step on your mat - feel your essence and
respond to what your essence is. Be open to your rasa - be open to explore. Rasa helps
you to flow in life. Rasa rejuvenates your life, it allows you to be in the yoga of that
moment. This is when the alchemy of your practice happens; the alchemy of yoga takes place
when the practice rises from your rasa, your organic feeling mood when you are responding to
your essence and then the benefits take place. It is when the Self is tasting the Self, you
can feel it. It is an inner transformation.
